• Music therapy is the use of music to achieve non-music goals. It is a clinical, evidence-based service that only certified Music Therapists (MT-BCs) can practice.

    • Music therapy is not the same as sound frequency therapy, sound healing, or music education. It is similar to physical, occupational, and recreational therapy, in that music interventions are used specifically to address a physical, emotional, or social goal.

    • In-Home Music Therapy indicates the music therapist will travel to your residence for weekly sessions.

  • Trick question! Every music therapy session looks different, depending on what you hope to gain. Here are some things you can expect, though:

    • Music interventions (activities) tailored to your interests, like songwriting, active music making on instruments, discussing song lyrics, playing percussion, musical games, and even progressive muscle relaxation with live music.

    • Songs that you enjoy- a favorite artist, band, composer, collection of songs, soundtrack, playlist, etcetera. These will be incorporated into sessions by your music therapist.

    • A space to grow, reflect, and challenge yourself, all while having fun with music.

    • Music therapy sessions are typically conducted once a week at a designated time and place and typically last 45 to 60 minutes.

    • Scheduling is ultimately determined between therapist and individual; some may choose multiple times a week, while others may stick with a weekly schedule.

    • We offer flexible pricing for music therapy services based on length of session and frequency of services.

    • Billing occurs on a monthly basis and will always be transparent with no hidden costs.

    • For effective music therapy outcomes, consistency is key.

    • If conflicts arise on your scheduled appointment day and time, please let your therapist know within 24 hours of scheduled session. We will do our best to reschedule with you. Please note rescheduling may depend on your therapist’s availability that week.

    • We kindly ask for 24-hour notice for cancelled appointments. Cancellations or requests for reschedule outside of the 24-hour notice will be charged at the appointment rate.

    • Absolutely not! You do not need to have musical skill to benefit from music therapy.

    • If you like music, you are qualified to have music therapy services. We will never force you to sing or play an instrument if you do not want to; in other words, engaging in music during sessions can be passive or active. We will always encourage participation and believe you do not have to “sound good” to benefit from music therapy.
