About New Song Wellness

  • Music therapy services on the Southside of Indy can be difficult to secure due to the imbalance between supply of therapists and growing demand for services, both for those on the waiver and those receiving private music therapy.

In recent years, we became increasingly aware of a gap in professional music therapy options with a faith-based background, and especially one that incorporates both mental health techniques with Scripture-based support.

This vision soon blossomed into not only providing music therapy services but also including high-quality, empathetic, all-ability accessible private piano lessons. While lessons are in an entirely different sphere of music than clinical music therapy, we believe learning a new instrument can be one of the most formative experiences in a person’s life, and our vision of New Song Wellness would not be complete without it.

New Song Wellness was created in early 2026 to fill the faith-based mental health gap in music therapy and to help others both play skillfully and live joyfully, as described in Psalm 33:3.

  • Our mission is to provide high-quality music therapy services and private piano lessons to not only encourage musicality, but also (and most importantly!) to help jumpstart a new song in your life.

    • We believe in the Cognitive-Behavioral approach to music therapy, in which the body, mind, and spirit are incorporated into therapy methods.

    • Improvisation, Nordoff-Robbins, and Neurologic Music Therapy may also be incorporated into therapy methods depending on the setting and individual.

    • We believe treating the root of a problem is more important than treating the symptom.

    • In cases where the objective is comfort (e.g., at end of life or in terminal memory care units), it is our priority to create meaningful moments between caregivers and family, provide legacy work, and hold space for joy and sorrow to coexist peacefully.

    • We strive to provide thorough piano lesson experiences that target not only technique and repertoire development, but also ear training and theory skills. We believe a well-rounded musician will benefit from learning these tools from the beginning, as it opens up a world of future possibilities.

    • We intend to meet you where you’re at, no matter the skill level or range of ability, and to provide support in fulfilling your unique goals and hopes for your life.

    • We prioritize the individual strengths of each person we meet, and it is vital to us that each person is treated with the utmost respect, compassion, and assumption of the best.

    • We hope to provide a holistic service that addresses tangible goals while maintaining emotional expression and encouragement.

Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.~Psalm 33:3
